Fire, Feast & Fundraising
Our generous friends within Dark Swan’s ‘Fire & Feast’ Community raised more than £6,000 for Serve On in a single weekend.
Around 76 people from different backgrounds - but sharing the same can-do attitude and altruism - turned up at our Chilmark HQ to celebrate friendship and camaraderie and conversation… and an Oktoberfest-style dinner, courtesy of The Rescue Chef.
Always ready to shed blood, sweat and tears for a good cause, they spilled more than their fair share of blood - in a wood whittling class - but happily there were no serious injuries.
They worked up a sweat creating a new woodland bar area, fire pit and performance stage. And there were tears of laughter aplenty thanks to a circus performance by the remarkable Darryl Carrington.
The main event of the weekend was a pudding auction, for which many of the invitees had made puddings, and there were fabulous extra lots donated - from mountaineering sessions, to bespoke knives, to dining experiences and fabulous watches – hence the huge sum of money raised, and Serve On getting its just desserts.
After the auction it was down to the woods for drinks around the newly refurbished fire pit while listening to the hugely popular Leggomen band gracing the newly-created stage.
Big thanks to everyone who took part and put the fun into fundraising.
